Thanks for joining us for this month's Control Freak's Blog Hop! You may have just arrived or maybe you stopped in at Wendy's blog first where you saw her amazing projects. Keep clicking on the icon at the bottom of each post to see it all!
The theme this time is 'Winter Wonderland' and I'll be focusing on the Wrapped in Plaid specialty designer paper. The plaid and detailed patterns have bits of Gold foil accents on one side of each piece. I've sure used a lot of it! See it and many of the products can be seen on page 13 of your Holiday catalog.
First is a super easy gift card holder. You can whip up a few of these in no time!
Measurements:
- 6 1/2" X 4 1/4", scored at 1 1/4" and 4 1/4"
- Belly band is 6 3/4". I did not score it; you can just fold it around and secure together under the circle punches
- Designer paper 2" X 4"
I stamped the greetings from Perfectly Plaid stamp set on a 2" White circle punch and layered that on a Starburst punched piece. The Shaded Spruce/Gold ribbon coordinates perfectly!

Next is a beautiful cone shaped Christmas wreath! I love making wreaths and used to make one each year to add to my collection. I filled an entire wall at Christmastime.
I folded twenty two 6" X 6" pieces of the Wrapped in Plaid designer paper into cones and adhered them together with Multipurpose adhesive. I let them dry and adhered them to a card board circle with hot glue. I love that you can see both sides of the paper on this unique wreath. It's about 18" across in size.
At first I tried to get each cone the same width and thought I should measure. But I didn't and they aren't perfect but that's the charm of it; right? I can be a bit of a perfectionist at times so it feels great when I can 'let it be' and actually be happy with it!
Honestly the inside front looked awful since the cones did not meet evenly in the center. So I had to cover that up! I traced a paper plate onto Cherry Cobbler card stock and cut it out. I textured it with the Pinewood Planks 3D embossing folder and added two banners from White and Shaded Spruce. The greeting dies are from the Merry Christmas dies cut from gold foil. That Gold rick rack trim is from the Delicate Lace dies. Once again the finishing touch is a bow made with the coordinating Shades Spruce/Gold ribbon.
