Are you a saver or a tosser?

I used to save every scrap!  But then I realized I rarely use the small ones so now I'm a tosser!  

But when I was prepping for a project I  had a bunch of 1/2" strips of pretty colors of card stock so I saved them.  They've been sitting on my desk for 2 months!  So I finally made time to create something and this is what I made: 

The colors are Flirty Flamingo, Peekaboo Peach and Sweet Sugarplum.  Flirty Flamingo is coming back in the June Annual catalog but the other two are not.  They are part of our In Colors that are retiring.  I will sure miss this year's retiring colors!  These two and Dapper Denim!  

Anyway; I arranged the strips over my White card stock and adhered the ends to the CS on one end so they'd stay in place.  Then I wove the other set into the first and adhered them to one end of the White CS also.  Once I was happy with the positioning I added adhesive to secure them all.  Then I added stitching details with my Black marker.

I finished it with the greeting from 'You've Got This' stamp set; which is also retiring!   The Iridescent sequins added that perfect touch!  The card is 4 1/4" X 5 1/2" when finished.

Fruit Basket meets Jar of Love!

We made this striking card at my March Card Clubs.  I paired the Fruit Basket bundle with the Jar of Love products!  I LOVE the color combination here; Night of Navy, Lemon Lime Twist and Real Red. 

Lots to love on these cards!  The Basket Weave embossing folder is not currently available but it IS COMING BACK in June in the new catalog!  And so is that trendy Navy gingham ribbon!  

The strawberries and pears are stamped and punched with the Fruit Basket bundle in the current Occasions catalog.  This bundle is retiring!  The stamp set and punches are so adorable and I love the fact that the punches punch off any excess white after stamping.  No white edges!

Brusho on Glimmer Paper?? Yes!

This is one of the cards we made at my Brusho class last month.  I chose to use the Magical Day stamp set to go with the pretty Dazzling glimmer paper we colored.

This stamp set and actually the whole Magical suite is retiring!  I'm so sad as it's so unique and special with all of the magical characters in the set.  Check it out here. 

Anyway; this card was part of 6 cards we made using Brusho and fun and unique techniques.  This one features our Dazzling Diamonds glimmer paper and two colors of Brusho. I colored the dragon image with our Blends markers.  These amazing markers are unavailable due to their popularity but they'll be back soon; hopefully by the end of May for most of them.

Favorite projects and hot deals!

 I thought I'd share some of my favorite projects from the past using items on the Clearance Rack. 

Do you remember this project? I made these pretty succulents with the Succulent Framelits and they're now on the Clearance Rack for just $19.80!!!

After I cut the flowers out I gave them a curl with my bone folder and then sponged the edges. I used a glue gun to attach the wire stems to the bottom of each flower. A fun and easy project!   Succulent Framelits

I'm super excited about my NEW Fun Fold Wonder!

I am so excited about my newest version of a one sheet wonder!  I'm calling it a 'Fun Fold' Wonder since each of the 10 cards are fun or fancy fold cards.  

After I made my first 'one sheet wonder' cards I got hooked!  So I created my own templates and called it a 4 sheet wonder. I created additional templates for all of the layers for each card.  Then I wanted another version that included even more layers so I called that one a 5 sheet wonder!  See where I'm going with this??

I do like making fancy fold cards so I thought; 'why not make a version for fun fold cards?'  And here it is!!

I chose to use the Petal Passion designer series paper (Occasions 2018 catalog) because I think black and white designer paper is the cats meow. It is retiring so I suggest you get it now!  (see link below) It's so versatile as you can see in the photo above!

I used two stamp sets on the cards above; Petal Palette and Waterfront. I also used my Blends markers to add color to some of the designer paper.  You could use regular markers too. 

With this easy cutting template you can create 10 unique ‘fun-fold’ cards using 1 sheet of 12 X 12” designer series paper! You'll also receive two more cutting templates for the White and Black card stock.  You can easily change it up; choose the paper to fit the occasion or to create a whole new group of cards!

The pdf tutorials include photos, step by step directions, products and measurements for each card.

Birthday Wit Explosion card with video!

I absolutely LOVE this explosion card!  We made it at my March Card Clubs and it was a big hit. 

There are so many great elements to it:  

1. The bright, fun color combination of Turquoise, Melon Mambo & Lemon Lime Twist
2. The unique layout with the easiest 'color blocking' ever!  (Watch the video to see what I mean.)
3. The super cool surprise you get when you open the card! 
4. Of course the quirky greetings in this set; I used almost all of them!

Control Freaks Blog Hop - Splash of Color

Today is the Control Freaks 'Splash of Color' blog hop!  Color is one of the top reasons I love Stampin' Up! so this month's theme is the bomb! 

You may have arrived from Cindy's blog but keep on clicking on the icons at the bottom of each post to see everything; you won't want to miss a thing! 

I'm going to start out with one of my top favorite cards in the last month or so.  We made this colorful card at my March card clubs using the Birthday Wit stamp set.  I'm so sad it's retiring!  I love so many of the quirky sentiments here; some so perfect for stamping! 

I chose to use Tempting Turquoise, Melon Mambo, Lemon Lime Twist with Black and White.  Turquoise is one of the colors Stampin' Up! is retiring this year.  I will sure miss it! 

The inside is an explosion fold using printing paper.  You could add some glitter or confetti for a real surprise!  To see how to create this stop back in tomorrow for my video. 

We stamped the front greeting in Black ink on the White CS.  I had pre-stamped this same image in Turquoise, Melon Mambo and Lemon Lime Twist ahead of time so they just fussy cut some of the words out and popped them up on their card front.  

The fun layout was created with a few scraps of Melon and Lime CS I had; what a super easy way to make a color blocking card!! Just add it to the main card and top it with your greeting layers.  Love this!

Next up is another of my recent favorites using the amazing Brusho Colour Crystals.  Talk about color!  

This card is created using a salad spinner!  Yes; that's right - a kitchen tool.  This greeting is from the 'All Things Thanks' stamp set.

Step by step Spin Art technique:

1. Adhere your thick White or Shimmer White card stock to the inside bottom of your salad spinner.  I used mini glue dots.  It must stay in place very well!
2. Spritz the CS with water, heavily!  It must be completely wet, shiny and dripping with no dry areas. 
3. Immediately sprinkle two or three good shakes of two colors in the center of the wet CS.  If it isn't wet enough spritz more water on.
4. Immediately cover and spin.  
5. Admire your spin art!
