Well we've been back in our home for almost 5 months now and I haven't shared pictures of my finished studio yet.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
First; here's what it looked like before the historic flood in 2011. And here's what it looked like after the flood.
This is during the demolition and clean up process. Note the position of the window for a reference.
This is the same view after the drywall was removed and foam insulation added to the outer walls. Because the 8' of water sat in our house for almost 4 weeks we were only able to save the 2 X 4's, the roof and the subfloor. We were wiring, adding heat, insulating and plumbing at this point. My husband did most of that. He's amazing. Funny he cannot remember most of those days last year.
Yes I did save all of my stamping stuff! That is the first question most stampers ask. :)
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
And now for the good part!!! This is my stamping space now; where I spend the majority of my day (and nights too). Lucky me!!
This is the view when you walk into the room; just off of my kitchen. I have tables with enough space for 12. These tables are from a restaurant auction. The white cabinet and dressers are from IKEA as are the punch racks. My paint color is Pool Party! Well, it's from Sherwin Williams and it's not called Pool Party..... I didn't even realize it matched until I held up a piece of the card stock.
This is the same view as the flooded pictures - my stamping space and office area. I love stamping at a corner desk; having my computer right next to my stamping space. These cabinets are maple & Amish built.
Here's a close-up view of my desk area. I love my file drawers full of beautiful card stock! Most items are close at hand except for my stamps and Big Shot items.
This is how I store my stamps and Big Shot items; in my IKEA dressers. So convenient and neat.
So we survived the devastation the flood brought in 2011 and from the bad came good. We are very happy to be back home. And as we fixed it up we made changes we'd always wanted to make to our home.
My friend Chanda made this sign for me. I LOVE it and am proud to hang it in my studio.
LeeAnn, beautiful space. What are you keeping in the wall shoe cupboards in the photo just above your re.est sign?

LeeAnn,
You have been through so much and you deserve a beautiful stamping space. Now, after much sweat and probably a few tears, you have one. I am so happy for you. "Beauty from ashes" or in your case, mud.

I'm so envious! Not of what you went through, LeeAnn, of course, but of your fabulous new space and even that you have such an obviously talented and handy DH! Thanks for sharing your photos. I clearly remember your flood photos.

This is fabulous LeeAnn ~ LOVE your creative corner(Happy Place)! We are heading south through Minot on our way to convention! I'm sure we'll still see some of the devastation from the flood ~ Winnipeg area flooded in 1996 and there are still some area's in the country with wood pile messes! So so happy that your place is ready for you to play....hhmmm....I mean work in :-) Enjoy your day!

Wow, what a comeback after such a devastating flood. It's absolutely beautiful!! I would LOVE to have a big, open, pretty space like that to stamp in. I have started to outgrow the space I have and now things are getting crowded and cluttered, LOL. I'm sure you will have many happy hours stamping in that room!

Le Ann - so many times I wanted to ask you how your life post-flood, home, post-trauma, etc. were coming along. But I was afraid the concern would re-open old wounds. It's wonderful to see you've triumphed! Beautiful!

Wow, LeeAnn, I'm not sure what to say. So sorry for your losses and I can't imagine how difficult it was to get through it. I'm on the east coast and know all about storms and flooding. I'm happy to 'hear' you smiling and so glad for your beautiful new stamping space. Best wishes, and enjoy!
