I promised you I'd post a tutorial for this technique last week and I totally forgot! So sorry!!
So here goes!
First you will need to create your card board shims. I used thin card board like the White board included in the back of our Designer Series Paper packages. I adhered to layers together. They measure 2" X 4" and 1" X 4". *In hindsight I would probably make them 4 1/2" across to accomodate our new, wider embossing folders.
Insert your card stock inside the embossing folder you're using. I started with the Perfect Polka dots folder. Then lay the card board shim on top of the embossing folder where you want the embossing to show. Tip: I added a bit of adhesive to keep the shim in place.
***You can see that I am using all tabs on my Multipurpose Platform but no acryllic plate underneath the folder. I did add one acryllic plate over this before rolling it thru my Big Shot.
This is what you'll get after that step. The shim you added is the only place there was enough contact to emboss as it was run through.
Next you'll use a different embossing folder. I chose the Framed Tulips folder. (Our Delicate Designs or Adorning Accents folders would work here.)
Place your card stock inside the Tulips folder so the line of tulips starts just where the polka dots stop. Close the folder and place it on your Multipurpose Platform with all tabs down as before. Lay the 1" card board shim over the tulips area. Add a clear acryllic plate and run it through the Big Shot.
This is what you'll get - a fantastic embossed border!
Now, do the same thing on the other side of the polka dot embossing.
This is your last step! After you run this one through you'll have a tulip border framing your polka dots in the middle.
Thanks for stopping in. I hope you'll try this technique! I am excited to try this with lots of different embossing folders.
Very pretty! Thanks for the tutorial.
