My husband has always loved Volkswagen bugs. He had one as a teenager & he has one again now. He loves to tinker with it, adding this & that to it in his 'man's world'.
So when I saw a punch art version done by Heidi Tekunoff, I knew we had to try one.
I turned this project over to my husband Andy - handing him the punches he might need & assorted card stock scraps & letting him do his thing. It came together pretty quick & easy ..... for him!
He used the following punches:
- Wide oval - hood & car top
- Large oval - wind shield, hood & side fenders
- Word Window - bumper
- Modern Label - tires
- 1/2" circle - black headlights
- new punch pack 3/8" circle - gray headlights
- Horizontal slot punch - rear view mirror, bumper add-ons & hood handle
Card stock - Real Red, Black, Going Gray, Brushed Silver, plus the Neighborhood paper from the SAB catalog
Stamps - In a Word from the Summer Mini catalog.
That VW bug reminds me of Herbie a lot. I used to watch that show a lot when I was a kid. I'm pretty sure that my friends who love vintage cars like those would definitely love that card. Keep up the good work!

I just love the card you designed. My son had a red VW bug and this would make a great birthday card. Thanks.

Hi LeAnne and Andy,
I just wanted to say thanks so much for designing this very cute VW Bug!
I needed something like this for a boy's birthday card, and have used your design for it.
I am really enjoying your blog LeAnne!
Best wishes,
Sam.

Too cute! My son loves Herbie, so I showed this to him and he got the biggest smile on his face. I will have to attempt to make a white one with a 53 on it:)
Thanks so much for sharing!

omg...so cute! Around here (at least!) we refer to VW Bugs as "punch-buggys"...LOL! I have no idea why???
So this should've been entitled "Punch Art Punch-Buggies"!!!! LOLLLL!!!!!

Hi there OMG this is truly amazing. How clever you are, this is so topical for me, just yesterday I had a friend call around for me to show her how to make 6 thank you cards she needed and she turned up in a RED VW that she said she had purchased when she was going thru a mid-life crisis and she adores it. I have always wanted one too from the age of 17yrs, am now 50, and I will just have to put my mind to it and get it, and hope you don't mind will copy this and send this to her saying what a lovely day we had making cards. We had such fun and she is hooked and now wants to get into it badly....... It is such a cool card.

Oh fabulous!!! This will adorn my father and brother's BD card this year... my father started it as he could only draw VW Beetles, and then we used to Beetle spot on the way to school. The first Bug was bought for my brothers 12th BD... and father and son spent more time underneath it than anywhere else. And then I started to drive - so my younger brother taught me in that 1st bug ( we were lucky we lived in woods - with a private road through it!!). And then my 18th.... and so arrived the 2nd bug for the garage - my pride and joy!! The 3rd one ( my brothers) - was made into a Supercar... and used to win prizes at Beetle rallies.... And so on... but my DH finally put a stop to it all... he hates them!!! So maybe it will his BD card 1st..... Super chuffed to see this.... ( can't you just tell!!) So a 1000 thanks yous.....
