It's been a few weeks since I did any 'floral' punch art, so I feel a bit justified in doing it now. I could do flowers most of the time, so I usually try to make sure I mix things up a bit.
I have also been trying to decide how to use the 1 sheet of the 5 new Core Colors we Demo's received last month. Here is what I came up with:
Aren't they cute???!!! I used our 5 new core colors.
Another thing I love about these cards is that I used 5 new colors of card stock, but only one ink color - Black. You do not have to own every ink color! Get the card stock first & then decide which colors are favorites.
Colors from left to right starting at the top:
- Cajun Craze
- Marina Mist
- Daffodil Delight
- Early Espresso
- Cherry Cobbler
How do you make these? I got the idea from Beth Prout.
First punch a 3/4" circle & then punch the large oval around the circle. Here is how they look before adhered in a flower shape. I also used my bone folder to add a curve to each petal.
Some of you demo's might think I wasted my card stock using it for both the punches & the layers on my cards. Well I used the layered piece for my punches too.
I first cut the layers for my cards & then punched the 3/4" circles & then the large ovals around the circles. I did have to make a few cuts to punch inside the middle. I love to use the under-layers of my cards for punched pieces. It's my frugal side showing!
Here are a few close-ups of my 3 favorites:
Early Espresso & Real Red with the new Square Lattice embossing folder - woo hoo!!!
To make the stem, I punched the large Oval punch once on a scrap of CS & then punched again just a little past the first oval punched hole to get the thin curved piece.
Daffodil Delight with a splash of Red too. I used the Petals-a-Plenty embossing folder on this one. This folder was available in the Winter mini catalog & it still is! It's a catalog write in.
Cherry Cobbler - so far this color is my favorite new Core color along with Early Espresso. It is so deep & rich! I paired it with a bit of Black & Summer Sun here.
See the curved petals? I used my bone folder to give them a little side curve to mimic a pinwheel.
- Stamps - Short & Sweet
- Ink - Basic Black
- Card stock - new Core Colors, Whisper White, Black, Old Olive, Real Red
- Accessories - Large Oval & 3/4" circle punches, Boho Blossom punch, Corduroy Buttons & Playground buttons, HodgePodge hardware, mini glue dots, gingham ribbon,
- Big Shot & embossing folders - Perfect Polka dot, Petals a Plenty, new Square Lattice
Very cute. I will have to try making these myself.

LeeAnn, you are SO ingenius! What a great way to show off the new Core colors plus a money-saving tip using the same piece of C/S to punch and layer. Marked this as one of my favs! Thanks for sharing your inspiration.

WOW! I was so surprised today when I checked my blog stats and I had all these hits! Thanks so much for linking up my project. What a sweetie! And I have to say, cutting the back layer and using the middle for the flowers is genius. Thanks for the great idea.

I mentioned making the stems with the large oval punch. Punch one oval out & then punch again deeper into the first punched area.
