What is a Heliconia? I didn't know either until I saw a few punch art versions made with our 2-Step Bird Punch & looked it up. Then I remembered we saw some last year in Hawaii. Isn't nature just amazing?
Nope; that's not mine! That's a real one! Here's my version:
What do you think? I used Vellum instead of card stock to capture a bit of the translucence in the flower shown above. You need 3 punched birds & 5 punched wings to make one. You do need to trim & smooth out the punched bird pieces by removing the beak etc.
I started by sponging some Tangerine in the center of the vellum pieces & sponging the edge with Gable Green ink. Then I turned the 'wing' over & used markers to high-light those colors. I will admit I did this pretty fast & if I had played around a bit I could have achieved a smoother outcome! I used Green Galore marker for the outer edge, YoYo Yellow next to that & Cameo Coral for the center.
I hand cut the stem & leaf. I used a stylus to make veins on the leaf & then sponged a bit of ink over that.
- Stamps - Bloomin' Beautiful
- Ink - Tangerine Tango, Green Galore
- Card stock - Bashful Blue, Gable Green, Whisper White, Tangerine Tango
- Accessories - 2-step Bird Punch, markers, stylus, Clear Circle & Scallop Circle dies, Big Shot, Perfect Details Texturz plate, sponges
That is just FANTASTIC!! Thanks for sharing your fabulous flower!!
