I promised you a tutorial on how to make this card:
Measurements:
- Full card in Chocolate Chip - 8 1/2 X 5 1/2"
- Bermuda is 3 7/8" X 5 1/8" and the Melon Mambo cs is 4" X 5 1/4".
- Vanilla 'Things I Love' card stock - 1" X 3 5/8"
- Melon Mambo scallop edge card stock - 1 1/2" X 4 1/4"
If you want to punch around the entire rectangle with your new scallop trim punch like I did in Melon Mambo, check out this wonderful tutorial by fellow Control Freak Gretchen Barron. But I will warn you, a narrow rectangle like this one can be a bit harder to get right! I ended up punching it for most of my club members - by the time I made 40 of these, I was quite proficient!
You'll need these supplies:
- Stamps - Things I Love (which is one of the Free sets you can get during SAB!)
- Card stock & Ink colors - Bermuda Bay, Chocolate & Melon Mambo with Vanilla CS
- Accessories - lots of punches - 1 1/4" & 1 3/8" circles, scallop circle, Flower Trio, NEW Scallop Trim Border, corner rounder, hand-held 1/8" punch, Circle Scissors Plus or another circle cutting system, sponge dauber, Melon polka dot ribbon, silver brads, Texturz plates, Big Shot, mat pack, paper piercing tool, dimensionals
Okay; here we go!
1. Cut a circle from both card stock (Vanilla) & regular computer paper for the template. My circles are 3 7/8". Fold the paper circle in half & then in half the other direction leaving you with 4 quadrants.
Mark the center of each of these 4 quadrants & punch 1 1/4" circles from those 4 areas. (Save one of these paper circles for later. Now draw a line on the folds in the center - where they meet indicates the exact middle of the circle. Poke a hole where the lines intersect. This will be important later.
Then fold the paper template in halves one more time between the previous folds.
2. Place the paper template over the Vanilla one. I used a temporary adhesive to hold it in place - like our Dotto. Using a 1/8" hand-held hole punch, punch on each of the fold lines all along the edge of the paper circle; just punching half way in to make little half circles.
3. Now you're ready to start stamping inside your punched holes. It's extremely important to consider this paper template to be like the hours on a clock. You will always stamp at the 6 o'clock position. So each time you stamp you will rotate the circles clockwise.
4. Again stamp in the 6 o'clock position. Continue rotating & stamping until each circle area has an image.
5. Now using your mat pack & paper piercing tool, punch a hole through the exact center of the Vanilla circle through where you previously marked the center on the paper template.
6. To get placement for the circle window in the front of your card, place the paper template over your layered Bermuda & Mambo pieces & then over the card base of Chocolate. Do not adhere anything yet! You want it positioned like a clock again, with the top & bottom of the paper circle meeting the edges of the Bermuda piece & the right outside edge just meeting the edge of the Chocolate card.
7. Now take one of the paper 1 1/4" circles you had punched out when you made your template & place it in the 6 o'clock position. Adhere it with Dotto or temporary adhesive.
8. Remove the large paper circle template leaving just the 1 1/4" paper circle.
9. Using the paper circle as your guide, punch around it with the 1 3/8" circle punch just through the Bermuda piece. There will be a sliver of Bermuda showing inside the punch since this punch is larger than your white paper circle.
**If you want the Bermuda card stock textured, be sure to do it now before you adhere the layers together.
10. Place the Bermuda Bay & Melon Mambo layers back together again. You could adhere these together at this point.
Now place the paper circle inside & onto the Melon Mambo card stock in the exact center. You'll see a thin layer of Melon CS between the paper circle & the Bermuda Bay layer. Punch out this Melon Mambo circle using the 1 1/4" circle punch.
11. Now you have a perfectly positioned layered window.
12. Using the 1 3/8" circle punch, punch out about 1/4 of the way in through both Bermuda & Melon layers on the right side of your card. This helps you turn the dial of the view master Vanilla circle. Do not punch too far in or you'll see your stamped words as you rotate your view master.
13. If you'd like a scalloped frame around the circles like mine, first punch a 1 3/8" circle from a scrap of Chocolate Chip card stock & then position the Scalloped circle over the punched 1 3/8" circle - punch!
14. Be sure to punch out the side of your Chocolate Chip card front also. Position the Bermuda & Melon layers onto the card front & punch just through the top layer of the folded card - not both! This photo shows me punching out beyond the Bermuda layer - but I really matched the curved edges before punching.
15. Now you'll place your stamped Vanilla circle behind your Melon & Bermuda pieces, positioning it with the right edge peaking out & a stamped image through the window.
16. Turn it over & make sure it is centered on the back side. There should be an even amount of Melon card stock above & below the Vanilla circle.
Once you're happy with the placement, poke a circle through the center hole you previously poked earlier - through the Melon & Bermuda Bay layers into the front.
17. I added a punched flower along with my brad through the front of my card & then through all layers including the stamped Vanilla circle.
18. Now you can rotate your view master to see how the stamped images show through your windows. If they are a bit off, you can re-adjust your poked hole & brad a bit.
19. Place dimensionals in all 4 corners on the back side of the Melon Mambo piece before adhering the view master to your Chocolate card front.
There! I know there are lots of little steps to this, but you get a perfect view master when you're done!
Thank you so much for sharing this tutorial, I can not wait to try it.

Sandy, I used the 1/8" hole punch - either a hand-held punch or your crop-0-dile works perfectly.

Wonderful tutorial! I can't wait to try and make one. One Question: How did you do the notches on the circle?
