Mojo Monday week 99

This week's sketch is perfect for one of the stamp sets I received at Convention.

The shoe image is from the new stamp set I received at Convention '09 - Things I Love.

I used a Real Red marker to ink it up & added a bit of Crystal Effects for the shine.

The Designer Paper is from the new Cottage Wall pack.  It has Orchid Opulence & Rich Razzleberry in it too, but I just used the green papers since I wanted to use my new wide stitched Red ribbon along with the new Playground buttons.  Notice the white dots on the button?  White gel pen works on buttons too!  

What a fun sketch - pretty easy to put together & also a great one for those small stamp images I have some trouble using at times.

Mojo Sketch #97

I really like the sketch this week.  There's just something about circles that is pleasing to the eye & draws interest.

This card literally took me 20 minutes to make.  That is exactly what I love about sketches.  They eliminates time & effort. 

Here's the process that works for me when using a sketch.

1.  If a sketch uses designer paper, I start with that or if not, I choose a stamp set instead. 
2.  After I pick the Designer paper or the stamp set, then I decide on my color combo.  I chose to use the Sahara Sand paper for my circle & added a black border piece.  These were cut out with my Circle Scissors Plus - love that tool!
3.  Then I went back to my pack of Designer Series paper  (Thoroughly Modern) to find a coordinating pattern of paper for the bottom of the card sketch.  I chose the Bermuda daisies print that matches the same print in the Sahara circle.
4.  Next I added the vanilla small grommets in the bottom right corner & Vanilla Taffeta ribbon between the black & Bermuda paper.
5.  All that was left was to pick a sentiment for the rectangle piece.  I love this saying from 'On Your Birthday'.

There you have it.  A 20 minute card, thanks to the Mojo97 sketch. 

Double Duty - Mojo Monday & Punch Art Wednesday

This week's been a bit crazy, so I'm combining Mojo Monday with Punch art Wednesday.

I am so glad I started playing with the Mojo Monday sketches.  They make creating a card so very easy - taking the guesswork out of just how to put it all together.  All I have to do is consider the stamps, colors & embellishments.  The layout is done for me!

 

I made a bouquet out of punches.  This would make a great shower card.

The colors are a bit unusual. I based my color combo from the new DSP Nouveau Chic - Basic Gray, Sage Shadow & Black.  I added some pink for a bit of 'girliness'. Click on the photo to enlarge it.

I used my Circle Scissors Plus to make the three concentric circles around the punched bouquet - so easy to do with this tool.

You can see the DSP (Designer Series Paper) behind & under the card.  My colors are a bit off in this photo tho.

It's Mojo Monday again & we can get inspired by another great sketch.

                   I did have a bit of a block with this one.  I chose to work with Melon Mambo & So Saffron & then had a tough time choosing papers & the greeting to go with them.

I am not sure I 'love' it, but it passes muster for me at the least!

The flower image is from the new set 'Greenhouse Garden'.  A wonderful 2-step that will be a favorite of many, I predict. I used Melon Mambo stamped off once for the flower image.

I really like the sketch they posted today.  It came together easily too.
I decided to start with a piece of Pink Flamingo patterned paper for my color inspiration. 

That meant Summer Sun, Regal Rose & Chocolate chip.

I used markers to color the branch with flowers.  The Chocolate centers were colored in after it was stamped.

I love the look of stitching - even if you don't think you're good at it - keep trying - you'll improve each time! 

Mojo Monday

It's Mojo Monday & another great sketch we can use for inspiration.

I used new In colors - Bermuda Bay & Melon Mambo with Black & White.  Pretty huh?
The background on the white Top Note is done with the background stamp 'Pretty Petals'.  I used markers to color it in.

If you're wondering how I got the square Top Note shape, here's how.

Run a piece of white card stock using your Top Note through your Big Shot or Cuttlebug once.  Remove the top note piece & place it back onto your Top Note die cross-ways - so the curved ends stick off of the side edges. Run it through again.   This will make it square with curves.  Very, very cool!

The main flower image is from a new Level 3 hostess set called 'Kind & Caring Thoughts'.  It is a beautiful set - with flower images, leaves & berries & 8 sayings too!

Can you tell the Bermuda Bay card stock is textured?  I love the fact that we can get textured 8 1/2 X 11" card stock now in the In Colors!

I have been wanting to try the Embossed Resist technique with the Upsy Daisy stamp set for awhile.  And I had heard that Melon Mambo is beautiful with Apricot Appeal, so that's my combo today.

I inked my Upsy Daisy stamp in Versamark & stamped it onto Glossy white card stock.  Emboss with clear embossing powder & let dry a minute.

I used sponge daubers to add Melon Mambo right over the embossing on the bottom of the card & Apricot Appeal on the top.  Then I added just a bit of Pretty in Pink to the middle to blend the colors.
