It's that time again! Another awesome Control Freaks blog hop. You're in for a real treat because the theme this month is Sneak Peaks from the brand new Stampin' Up! Idea Book & Catalog that is coming out on July 1st.
You'll travel a complete circle no matter where you 'hop' on. Check out Wendy Jansen's beautiful projects. Her color combo is awesome!
I was thrilled to see this so very pretty hostess set!
I have always loved hydrangea's & this beautiful set 'Because I Care' is just a Level 1. Can you believe it? I know you'll all want this one. Just wait until you see all of the hostess sets in the new catalog. You're gonna freak!
Notice the raised embossing? That is a new embossing folder called 'Vintage Wallpaper'. Did you spy the new color I used with the Bashful Blue? It's hard to see in the photo, but it's a new In Color called Concord Crush - a beautiful deep, deep purple.
Anyway, I used a neat embossing technique to create this two-toned image. I inked the entire hydrangea stamp in Versamark ink first & then inked just the main flower again in Bashful Blue ink. Then I used the new Concord Crush In Color marker to add a few highlights all over the flower. Next is the Artichoke marker on the leaves & stem. Finally I stamped it onto my Whisper White card stock & embossed the whole thing with Clear embossing powder. The Versamark ink makes the Classic ink stay moist long enough to add embossing powder. After that I used the Bashful Blue marker one more time to color over the embossed image. Wipe off excess color.
Isn't it gorgeous??? And no you will not ruin your Classic ink pads or Markers using this technique. You can make any Classic ink pad an embossing pad if you stamp first in Versamark.
Next up is a neat double pocket bag created with just a 12 X 12" piece of double sided patterned paper. It holds 2 cards & envelopes.
You can see the Old Olive card & envelope peaking from the pocket. It's so easy to make - just a little measuring & folding. ******I'll post a the tutorial for this project next week. The greeting images on the pocket bag are from another new set called Perfect Punches. I adore stamp sets that match our punches! And did you notice? We have a new 2 3/8" Scallop circle punch! It matches a single stamp called 'Homemade' that you can see behind the large circle punch on the bag.
The flower images are from the stamp set called Printed Petals. I used the Baby Wipe technique. I LOVE this technique for solid stamp images. It can change the look of any stamp!
If you're not familiar with it, here is how you do it.
Fold up a moist baby wipe on a paper plate. Drop many drops of ink refills onto it in a random pattern creating color just wide enough for your stamp. The ink will spread to create a multi-colored ink pad. Just ink your stamp in this & stamp onto your card stock. Instant & amazing kaleidoscope color!
I cut out the baby wipe flowers by hand & also hand cut the stems & leaves from Olive card stock for the flowers & added accents with the White gel pen.
See the envelopes under the cards? I inked the long multiple flower stamp in the Baby Wipe also. Doncha love it?
