Brenda is very, very wicked this month. Check out her original Butterfly Box here.
Why is she wicked? Well each month on Splitcoaststampers, they choose a demo to be their 'wicked' demo of the month. This means they must create some fabulous projects & other demo's are challenged to use their ideas & post the results. I was very surprised to be chosen this last January.
Anyway, I was very impressed with her projects & had to try the Butterfly Box first. Here's my version:
Isn't it just amazing??!!
I turned the box into a vase & added the daisy mums using our Daisies #2 die. Her box fits the SU Beautiful Butterflies dies perfectly. I cut mine from our Raspberry Tart designer series paper, as are the butterflies themselves. I sponged the edges & added green rhinestone brads.
Unfortunately the butterfly box template is only available to demo's right now & is found here on SCS. But keep watch; I may have a class making this project soon.
Each flower has 6 layers - 2 of each of 3 different size daisies. The large bottom layer is card stock adhered to chipboard & cut out. Yes, this die can cut through almost anything!
The edges of all the petals are sponged with either Pink or Rose Red ink. After sponging, curl the petals up & in towards the center. I adhered them together with Tombo mono-multi glue & added various buttons to the centers with mini glue dots.
Dowels are the stems. I made them green with a sponge & Old Olive ink. Then I cut out a bunch of leaves from the Little Leaves sizzlet & adhered them onto the dowels with mini glue dots. The flowers are attached to the dowels with glue dots too. I believe Lynn is the first to create these gorgeous daisy mums. Check out her bouquet here.
What holds the stems inside the box? Floral foam that florists use. I adhered it to the bottom of the box with Tombo glue.
